Hello, I'm Jet Bults . I'm 40 years old and live with my husband, two children and two Border Collies in Almelo. I work for a Bailiff in Almelo.

Now almost five years ago died my old faithful Bass. He was not a Border Collie, but a cross between a spaniel and a sheepdog .... a dog with a spicy character and a strong hunting instinct, he is no less than 17 years old. Actually I after his death, decided not to buy another dog, but after half a year it started to itch again.

But what breed would it be? I had already been very impressed by the Border Collie, but knew also that a Border Collie is not just a dog for everyone.

After I had it on the internet read about the breed but I decided to have a litter to look. And well ... look is buying.

That evening I arrived at home with Puck , a Border Collie bitch 10 weeks old.

That a Border Collie is not just a dog I found out very quickly.

After two weeks I started with her puppy course and as a Border Collie excelled befits the lady here considerably from. We were always plenty for the rest of the group and we had to wait far too often and the rest of the dogs and their owners.

She listened soon very well and was quickly housebreak. So far no problems.

Until I one time with one of the neighbors was talking on the street. Puck Sat neatly beside me on the sidewalk. At that moment a car came along and what gebeurder there? Exactly ... Puck drove the car!! To my horror, she tried at full speed for the car to come.

From that moment she everything to float, bicycle, auto’s, scooters, even fighter jets!! The children also do not escaped to. She drove them to, then in the clothing or in the buttocks sipping. This has cost me a lot of mending.

I realized I had to put her to work.

I went to look for opportunities to take her to train in sheep. After some phone calls to different people (we were not welcome in some, because Puck has no pedigree) I finally came out at the Border Collie Club Zwolle.

After a nice conversation with Anneke, they assured me that I was more than welcome in Zwolle, Puck and I traveled on a cold winter day on the farm in Zwolle for a snuffeldag.

After some explanation of Dick were some dogs will sniff in the "green" meadow.

Because Dick my dog was still too young (5 mnd) I would just watch and try to learn as much as possible these days. But very soon became apparent that Puck had only one goal, as soon as possible to get the sheep. She was digging a tunnel to the netting by, because they had and they would also participate.

Dick therefore decided that we were going to try anyway ff with her, to the long line.

And Puck loved it.

We therefore decided that I every 14 days would come back to Puck to sniff at the sheep. Also for me it would be very useful to every 14 days to come back so I have a lot of Dick and the rest could learn. This to any problem behavior early in the bud to nip, because Puck still very much driving urge in him.

It has me too much effort to its driving behind cars to unlearn. This was eventually succeeded by her with a firm hand to tackle. Or in Dick's words "a dog has a handler".

Over v.d. Time Puck and I got more and more pleasure in herding. We went even occasional game walk.

I came after a year also discovered that having / keeping Border Collies can be very addictive and also came to me soon half.

I knew Patricia Schripsema had a litter from Cindy and Sepp Jan Mondeel. And here I would only ff look at the last remaining bitch from the litter. Look was so buy. And so Luna two weeks later to Almelo.

Even with her I started training with the sheep in Zwolle.

Luna is a quiet obedient dog. She is very focused on me. Actually, she was at first a little afraid of the sheep. But as they grow older and stronger she starts getting better to walk. It would be nice that I also finally going to understand how to walk and stand. I sometimes have the impression that my dogs understand it all, Only the female is sometimes so weird. Especially during competitions. On the nerves, it always wrong, and then I see my dogs sometimes even think .... pfff

But hey .... for me and my dogs is a fun hobby and what I find much more important is the good ambience during competitions. The members of the club wear every time their part.

During those days it every time enjoy the dogs, the sheep and all the people around us. During the training, it's always nice. And there's nothing better after a busy week with your dog between the sheep to walk.

In addition, my dogs after an afternoon of "work" completely satisfied.

And for me, in any case, one thing is certain .... never have another dog than a Border Collie.
